Being Politically Correct

I was just reading a post and the related threads from the FB group I Fucking love Science

When i first saw the pic my screen was kinda zoomed in (cuz i'm admittedly blind) and when I scrolled down I must say that it was totally out of my expectation and tickled my funny bone.

What amused me even more was the massive feministic thread that followed.

I mean seriously. No guy is going to complain if you did the situation in reverse. Fair enough the women feel sick and tired of commonly being used as an object of humour but it is the same with all jokes and puns. As politically incorrect as it is, most jokes thrive on stereotypes and idiosyncrasies.

Its like Russel Peters making fun of Indians all the time but if a white guy did it, the whole world would be offended. And the term white guy in itself is, to me at least, a derogative term to many Caucasians as well.

Is it all that important to be politically correct all the time?
YES, if you are a politician.

If not, the key to being a good human, in my opinion, is simply to not intentionally cause harm in a reasonable sense. (now I sound like a law student) If the cartoon above was meant to steal and make millions off the hannah and babara franchise, GREAT, GET SUED. If the image was drawn with the mind blowing intention of degrading all male scientists and oppressing all women, GREAT, GET STONED. If it was just an outlet of post modern artistic expression for some light humour, just take it with a pinch of salt.

I mean if the artist were to be politically correct, he/she would have to draw 7 scientists, with equal decisive opinions, from each of the different continents (no no one is smarter than the next) with transgenders (cuz 3 girls 3 guys would leave 1 imbalanced sex) of mixed descent and heritage. Seriously WTF.

Yes I'm strongly opinionated in this sense, but so are those who disagree with me (believe it or not). Practically all of the strongly opinionated overly self moral/justified people I know have ended up breaking a rule or two which results in some form of trauma to their ego. (ie religious morally strict girl who scolds everyone but ends up giving up her body etc due to a moments passion and becoming a beat up person)

I'm not saying to give up on your morals and or beliefs. I'm saying that in life we are only human and we are weak. Not to say we should be lax on ourselves but it is necessary to take things with a pinch of salt.

I end off with a post from one of the people from the thread.

Gangnam Style Lyrics

haha I simply love the lyrics. Yes the song is super over played but after reading the lyrics as I watch the Video, I have new respect for the dude for his handling of the MV lol.
Oppa is Gangnam style
Gangnam style
A girl who is warm and humanly during the day
A classy girl who know how to enjoy the freedom of a cup of coffee
A girl whose heart gets hotter when night comes
A girl with that kind of twist
I’m a guy
A guy who is as warm as you during the day
A guy who one-shots his coffee before it even cools down
A guy whose heart bursts when night comes
That kind of guy
Beautiful, loveable
Yes you, hey, yes you, hey
Beautiful, loveable
Yes you, hey, yes you, hey
Now let’s go until the end
Oppa is Gangnam style, Gangnam style
Oppa is Gangnam style, Gangnam style
Oppa is Gangnam style
Eh- Sexy Lady, Oppa is Gangnam style
Eh- Sexy Lady oh oh oh oh
A girl who looks quiet but plays when she plays
A girl who puts her hair down when the right time comes
A girl who covers herself but is more sexy than a girl who bares it all
A sensable girl like that
I’m a guy
A guy who seems calm but plays when he plays
A guy who goes completely crazy when the right time comes
A guy who has bulging ideas rather than muscles
That kind of guy
Beautiful, loveable
Yes you, hey, yes you, hey
Beautiful, loveable
Yes you, hey, yes you, hey
Now let’s go until the end
Oppa is Gangnam style, Gangnam style
Oppa is Gangnam style, Gangnam style
Oppa is Gangnam style
Eh- Sexy Lady, Oppa is Gangnam style
Eh- Sexy Lady oh oh oh oh
On top of the running man is the flying man, baby baby
I’m a man who knows a thing or two
On top of the running man is the flying man, baby baby
I’m a man who knows a thing or two
You know what I’m saying
Oppa is Gangnam style
Eh- Sexy Lady, Oppa is Gangnam style
Eh- Sexy Lady oh oh oh oh

Stress for students

Singaporeans always find a new reason to complain...
Remove the PSLE?
Sooner or later it will a demand for a direct escalator system into university... Then what happens when you have no way to differentiate the general populous? You end up with a majority of unemployed graduates and underpaid people with phds.

Singapore IS very competitive and we have ALOT of graduates etc. But formal education alone does not determine a person's worth and using stress as a reason to remove systems is not enough.

As always you can choose to let your children take the chilled out path. Or you can educate them in a fun way to alleviate their stress. Again its back to work life balance and how you manage your own time as well as your children's time.

At the end of the day discussing a topic like stress, broadly, is as good as discussing a topic on happiness

Look at the happiest place in the world, Buthan

Do you want to be happy like them? YES.
Do you want to live like them with a super low wage and very low tech? NO (if u are online and reading this you probably have to answer no)
Do you want to go there for a holiday and feel the peace of the world? YES

Its only normal that we want the best of the world and remove all your worries. But the cruel reality is that life is just not so fair. You have to make the best of it and find that fine balance. You can never truly be that happy without a little sadness for comparison, and you can never feel truly motivated and accomplished without a little stress.

Well or you can also believe in reincarnation and pray that your next life will be born into some billionare's household or a sultan or king's child.... and that's a whole different set of stresses and problems altogether.
